"I think outside the box more than most Hermannites would prefer," said Father Bill Debo of St. George Catholic Church in Hermann, Mo.
But it's what "most Hermannites" think of him that matters: Kind to the young and old; friendly to everyone and just a regular nice guy.
And he comes by it honest.
"I'm just a rural, small-town boy," he says.
In the midst of scandals involving priests around the country, this small-town boy has dedicated his life to the community's salvation. In turn, this community of Catholics and non-Catholics has embraced him.
"My life is an open book," he says.
