Angela Pohlmann is a 13-year-old-girl, the middle child of a large family, rooted in a deep faith that dictates every part of life.
Though barely a teenager, Angela may be more prepared for life than many of her contemporaries. The third of eight, home-schooled children, she plays a central role in the family’s routine; caring for younger siblings while sharing in the household chores.
"Being part of a large family teaches you how to care for one another," Angela said. "I feel like I've achieved something when I help my younger brothers and sisters learn something new."
Angela's birthday was Wednesday, the first day of autumn. Her older sister, Micaela made a butter cake and little sister Anne placed the candles strategically on the cake. When you're six it's tough to always count correctly. Still, in a family like this, there is always someone to help you get it right.
