There are many signs that fall has arrived. The leaves glow with new color, and the corn becomes tall and golden. It's harvest time. If you're a farmer, fall also brings with its bountiful beauty a struggle that lasts from sunrise to moonrise.
This annual routine is both mentally and physically exhausting and would test even the strongest. Mother nature, showing little concern, can burn the day with searing sun yet not provide a breeze for relief. Dust and dirt, knowing no boundaries, create an atmosphere that a movie director would love, but which a farmer can only endure.
