Donna Howe checks on her husband, Wayne, in his bedroom, to make sure he has what he needs to be able to sleep for a few hours. With every loud noise, she rushes to his bed to ensure his safety since his body fails him and he has difficulty standing, she says. “I have to make sure he doesn’t fall down, because if he does, I don’t have the strength to lift him up,” she says. “And if he hurts himself…I don’t know what I’ll do.”
