"Don't get important on me," Wally tells all his deputies. And he leads by example; no job is too small for him, too unimportant. Short-staffed this day, Wally volunteers himself to pull bailiff duty. Before court he will make a run through all rest rooms, digging through the trash and inspecting toilet lids for weapons. It's tedious work. "But you gotta do it," Wally says. "Because I know the one time I don't check will be the time someone decides to try and pull something."
