Macon Police Captain Jeff Brown’s commitment to helping the community doesn’t end when he’s off duty. Jeff Brown is a single parent to his 11-year old son, Caleb, and has been a foster parent to 30-40 kids over the last seven years. “Kids are our future,” he said. “I like the idea of trying to build them up a little bit and give them a good place to stay and hopefully advise them so they make better decisions in life later on.” Friends and neighbors often reach out to brown as well. When his friend Louie has trouble making ends meet, Brown gives him odd jobs around the house. He often counsels friends with relationship problems. “A lot of people do choose to come to me if they need some help. And I appreciate that and I’m glad I’m approachable,” he said.

Captain Jeff Brown asks Alexis Homan if she\'92s ready to stay out of trouble a few hours after she was released from jail with charges of possession of a controlled substance. Growing up in Macon and knowing everyone in town helps Brown understand the circumstances that can lead to trouble with the law, Brown said.
