Betty Dwiggins leaves her office to continue daily chores around the kennel. She and her husband have tried to raise awareness about Proposition B’s potential consequences, such as the possibility that many breeders will euthenize their dogs to spite the Humane Society of the U.S. once they go out of business. Yet as Betty reminds her husband, he is “not a political person,” nor are their limited efforts likely to change the tide of public opinion.
