Portraits of former clients paper the walls of Franke’s studio. In the early years, Billy took the black and white photographs, developed and then sepia toned them before giving the prints to his mother Vera who hand colored them with transparent oils as in the baby photograph above. He counts more than 1,000 weddings to his credit and says he can’t fathom how many photos he’s taken in his career.
