"I've never dated much. Not hardly any," Betty said.
It was her sister who noticed the love she had for children and suggested foster care as an outlet for Betty when she in her late 20s. Betty would eventually adopt six children, supporting them with her salary from the PPG glass company.
Several still live in the Twin Cities area, and they stop in regularly to visit and help Betty with cleaning and lawn care. Older than Bethany by decades, several have children her age.
"I don’t know what I'd do if I didn't have these kids. They all are so good to me," Betty said.
