- “I don’t give a damn!” is Betty Anderson’s favorite phrase, but she doesn’t really mean it. A hardworking wife and mother with many burdens and responsibilities, she still tries to be young at heart. Her life revolves around her husband’s family business: the Anderson Salvage yard, a place where other people’s junk is considered treasure.
Betty struggles to keep the business running and maintain discipline in a large, growing family. Her husband, a decent, hardworking fellow clearly loves her but he often forgets to show her how much she is appreciated.
This town needs mothers like Betty. Some people say she is mean, but Betty knows that hard love, the kind that doesn’t make you popular, is what is needed to keep her family on the right path.
Betty is the “Queen in the Kingdom of Junk”. She surveys the now almost empty plot, where just a couple of weeks ago, over 500 junk cars awaited their turn to be baled
