Ian Malkasian, Assistant Editor, Small Town America Book, is the assignment editor at the Oregonian in Portland, Ore. He started working at the newspaper in September of 1998 as an intern after completing his graduate work at the Missouri School of Journalism. Ian has co-edited the Best of Photojournalism numbers 23 and 24 with Randy Cox. Last year, Randy and Ian, along with Oregonian picture editors Patty Reksten and Randy Rasmussen, completed a newspaper tabloid supplement to news photographer containing the editing winners from the 57th Pictures of the Year. Furthermore, Ian has served as coordinator of Pictures of the Year and has contributed to the Missouri Photo Workshop for the past eight years.
