Del Weyer, the Pastor of the First Assembly of God church in Trenton, Missouri, is trying to raise four children as good Christians. Religion is the glue that strengthens family ties and helps the Pastor to overcome problems and fears. God entrusted him with the authority and responsibility of leading his flock and, as a good Pastor, his first concern is to protect his family. For this reason, Del keeps a loaded handgun in a drawer by his bed and, as a way for keeping family tradition alive, he is teaching his kids how to shoot and go hunting so that they can learn how to defend themselves using guns in the proper way. After all, as Del says, in the Bible it’s written, “Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth”.
