The 67th Missouri Photo Workshop participants, faculty, and crew gathered outside the workshop's headquarters for a group photo on Friday, September 25, 2015 in Perryville, Mo. The 2015 workshop included 41 photographers from 18 U.S. states and 7 foreign countries.

Welcome to Perryville, Mo.

French, Spanish and German immigrants first made their way to what is now Perryville, Mo., in the early 19th century. Two hundred years later a new wave of visitors trekked to Perryville, carrying cameras instead of flintlocks and the "game" they stalked were story telling moments, the building blocks of the visual narrative.

This band of 41 photographers traveled from 18 different states and seven foreign lands, welcomed by a caring community that opened their doors and their lives to them.

Through these photos and words you will see how religion, commerce, personal struggle and supportive relationships characterize this eastern Missouri town, and can glimpse the life and practice of an atypical small town veterinarian. You can learn about a man who left a job in the aerospace industry to take over the family farm. You can look inside the life of a 14-year-old girl facing a tough decision. You can see how the roots of community attracts a small town policeman to stay in his hometown.

This collaboration between photographers and townfolk represents a gift of a strengthened community - which we all now want to share. It's a gift for which we will be forever grateful.
