Blumhorst measures the symmetry of a pit bull puppy's ears after clipping them during an ear cropping operation. The procedure, controversial in some states, is a cosmetic alteration of the dog's ears. Blumhorst is one of a few vets in the area who will perform the surgery. "I've become a sort of rock star for the pit-bull people," he says.
